Hagimit Falls 2016

My boyfriend and I love to travel and discover places, despite the lack of money. If we're not travelling, we go food tripping. So, on his birthday, we planned to go somewhere he has never been to which is near the city and affordable. Since I'm not really a fan of the sea because it's salty, I always liked falls. And because he has never been to Hagimit Falls, we decided to give it a go.

I've been to Hagimit Falls back in 2014 with my classmates. We used our classmate's car back then so I'm not really familiar with commuting to get to the area which we are going to do because we don't have a car. To get to the place, we first google how to get there. According to one blog we read, we can ride a bus to PeƱaplata, Samal Island and ride a habal-habal to get to Hagimit Falls. So we did.

We left at 8:00 A.M. from our house which is situated in Maa, Davao City. We rode a jeepney which took us to Magsaysay. We arrived at the terminal at 8:40. The terminal is located at Bangoy Street, in front of UM Technical School. We bought tour tickets from the terminal. The tickets cost Php 50.00. The bus came at 9:20 A.M. and left at 9:30.
Inside the bus. It's non air, btw.

It took time before we were able our bus got in a barge because other barges won't let the bus get in. We got in the barge at around 10:25 AM.

When we reached Terminal which is Davao Central Warehouse, we rode a habal-habal which are also waiting in the area. The driver asked us for Php 30.00 per head for the fare. We thought it was a reasonable price, so we obliged, but it turned out we were tricked by Php 5.00. Hmf. (Laking kawalan, eh no? Hehe. JK)

At the entrance of the falls near the highway, our driver made stop, so we can pay the environmental fee of Php 5.00 per head. After paying, we were brought to the entrance of the falls (yup, another entrance) where we paid Php 40.00 each for entrance fee. And we started trekking our way to the falls.
Happy pa kasi easy lang ang trek, pababa lang eh. haha
There are a number of resorts in the area, but we chose the one with the Falls main attraction. We had a table with umbrella for the cost of Php 150.00 but you can opt not to get one just find a good place to keep your things while swimming. You can take a swim at any area of the falls regardless of which resort you paid for the cottage/table, I'm just not sure if this applies to Mahal Forest Resort, we didn't take a swim in there.

Here are some photos we took during our trip.

Most of the areas of the falls are just shallow. I'm 5ft 2in but I can just walk my way in the swimming area. The photo below is the deepest part of the falls. I didn't try swimming in there because my boyfriend warned me it's deep compared to the other tiers. Diving is also not recommended in any part of the falls because it's not really deep for diving but people are still diving in it. There are lifeguards in our area, by the way.

The most popular tier of the falls.
What's the best food you can bring when swimming? Boiled sweet potato and bananas, of course! Yummy! :)
Our simple celebration. :)
Pose, birthday boy :)

I took a selfie in Hagimit :P
The water is cold and refreshing! You'd really love to take a dip in it. :)

You can also sit at the side of the falls or stay under it for a water massage.

The last time, I went in Hagimit, we didn't do the exploring, so I thought that the photo above was the only place where people can swim and take a dip but I was wrong! I turned my adventure mode on and climbed my way up the falls and lo, we found another tier. This is a very shallow part but it's also nice staying in here. It's like having a sandbar in a falls.

Above the famous Hagimit tier. Wehehe
I like walking barefeet. :p
Look, a buddha! Hahaha
We climbed the other tier again and found this. This part is very secluded unlike the first one.
Emote, murag erps. hahaha
Other tiers.
Hmmm. massage.
Below is Mahal Forest Resort. It has an area which is like a pool. :)

The place was just a little too crowded. It may be because of the timing. We came here last May 31, perfect date for Huling hirit sa tag init. Hehe.
We left at around 4 PM, we went out. Don't worry about getting to the terminal or the ferry, there are habal-habal drivers waiting outside.

And to avoid being overcharged, here's the tariff:
