Aliwagwag Falls EcoPark + Davao Oriental Sidetrips 2016

Aliwagwag Falls EcoPark Trip

Last April 2, we went to Aliwagwag Falls. There are two routes to to the falls from Davao City: the Compostela Valley route (which is shorter) and the Mati Route.
Compostela Valley Route
Mati City Route
We decided to take the road less traveled because it we also wanted to see the sleeping Dinosaur which can be seen at Mati City. Hehehe.

His Majesty.. The sleeping dinosaur..
We also took a photo at the plaza, with the I love Mati sign.

We had breakfast at Honey's, a popular dining place in Mati. Then, we started the journey again. The driver told us that we can find one of the oldest churches on our way, so we had quick side trip to the place.

The church of Caraga. It was said to be built in 1877. It's made of stones, wood, and corals. It is positioned in front of the Philippine Sea. The church was strongly built, it withstood Typhoon Pablo which hit Caraga last 2012 and left many infrastructures desolated. It also left many people dead.

After the quick visit at the church, we thought we were going straight to the Ecopark but to our surprise, the driver told us about another destination. It was the Enchanted River of Caraga but it's a lake version. It's like the Enchanted River because of the clarity of the water. The water's so clear, you can't actually determine if the part of the lake is shallow or deep. Hehe.

The entrance fee to this place is only Php 5.00. People haven't discovered this place yet. The swimmers we saw during our visit were locals from the place. I think this would be nicer if it can be developed.

Another unexpected stop we had was the Sunrise Boulevard, tourists and travelers can take a quick stop to this place and enjoy a quick snack or drinks which can be bought from the store/restaurant in the place.

At the back of the store is the beach with plenty of trees. I am not sure if they are mangroves, but I think they are. It's a perfect place for pictorials! :) They also have a playground at the Boulevard. It was just too hot to play when we visited.

After a few minutes and photos, we went back to our ride. On our way, we saw an island. We wanted to visit it too, unfortunately, we were running late. So we just went to the proper of Cateel to have lunch. And traveled to Aliwagwag Falls,

The main destination: Aliwagwag Falls and EcoPark. By the way, it would be better if you would bring food and drinks with you. The EcoPark is very tiring to climb up and down just to buy food and drinks if you feel hungry or thirsty.

Entrance Fee: Php 50.00
Monkey Walk: Php 50.00

Rules & regulations

Hello Falls..
The photo only shows part of the falls not the whole of it.

Hanging Bridge
The hanging bridge was very challenging to past through, unlike other hanging bridges I've been through, this one really swings and moves. So you better put those balancing skills to practice. Hahaha.

A part of the falls.

A panoramic view of the highest part of the falls where people are allowed to swim. The other parts don't have guards.
A trek to the higher part of the falls.

The monkey walk

Cottages and tables.

The trip was long and our stay at the EcoPark was short but it wast totally worth it! It would be better if you'd have your own vehicle in getting to the place. I rarely saw PUV's on during our trip to the place.
